New Psychodiagnostic Methods – The Scale of Depresivity and The Scale of Aggression

In clinical counselling practice, but also when planning prevention programmes, it is useful to know the personality characteristics and current psychological state of the girls and boys being examined. In the Czech Republic, psychodiagnostic methods that are developed meet strict methodological requirements imposed on this type of psychodiagnostic instruments. At the same time, these methods are always developed on a sufficient theoretical basis. Population norms are based on national surveys involving several thousand Czech girls and boys aged 15–19. The Aggression Scale is composed of three subfactors (Psychical Aggression, Anger, Hostility) and General Aggressiveness and contains a total of 24 items. Cronbach alpha of 0.93 and McDonald omega of 0.94 were measured for the total score of the method. For individual factors, McDonald omega ranged from 0.80 to 0.91 and Cronbach alpha ranged from 0.84 to 0.93. The depression scale is one-dimensional and consists of 20 statements. The Cronbach alpha for this scale is 0.91 and the McDonald omega is 0.94. The administration and evaluation of these scales is simple and time-saving. The diagnostic tools can be used both in practice (e.g. in clinical or counselling settings) and for research purposes. The scales have an English version of the stimulus material and manual.
